MEET MARIA AND CODY
It happened during a volunteer placement in Bolivia and was, of course, blindingly obvious to everyone else but them (as such things usually are) until it was too late: Cody and Maria had fallen in love. Since that fateful trip, almost four years ago, their unfaltering love for one another and desire to be together have taken them all over the world—from Brazil to Vancouver to Ottawa to Mexico, where they married a year ago this May.
But since their wedding, this fun-loving twosome has been struggling to fit their relationship into their hectic schedules. As they confessed in their makeover application, “The thing is, ever since we tied the knot, life has become so busy that it has been hard for us to set time aside to truly enjoy each other.” Enter 2 with a paper anniversary gift that was sure to help Cody and Maria reconnect: two round-trip tickets to Mexico for a week-long stay at Club Med Cancun Yucatan, as well as a jaw-dropping makeover and new Tommy Hilfiger wardrobe. A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE
For almost 20 years, Toronto’s environmentally friendly World Salon has been dedicated to instilling a feeling of peace and harmony into their clients by making them look and feel more beautiful. Cody and Maria were no exception. First step: Ditch the dullness and reinvigorate their colour. Hairstylist Brienne Lust placed a few subtle amber highlights around the crown of Maria’s head for added warmth, and brightened up Cody’s mousy natural colour with some soft golden slices. Next up? Scissor time. Cody’s overgrown faux hawk just needed a little TLC. By leaving some length in the front and cleaning up the back and sides, hairstylist Justin Tambini was able to keep it modern and cool but also add versatility: Depending on how he styles it, Cody can choose to go funky or conservative with his new look. After years of DIY cuts, Maria’s curly locks were weighing her down and in need of some interior structure. Lust worked from the inside out to remove the excess weight and give Maria’s hair more lift and movement. After a quick tweeze of the brows, makeup artist Chantal Hubens (The Artist Group Ltd., 416-703-5059) completed Maria’s look with a palette of turquoise and gold to complement her colouring.
