MEET CAROLYN AND RYAN...AND ELLIE!
After seven amazing years together, Carolyn and Ryan were ready to expand their family of two, and it wasn’t long until the pitter-patter of little feet—well, paws—could be heard racing around their Toronto loft. Although their new bundle of joy, a boisterous whippet-beagle named Ellie, has been a very happy addition to their household, she has also been a lot of work. Loads of daily doggy duties (and doo-doo, for that matter) have left this already busy couple in desperate need of a little relief. “I love Carolyn, she loves me, we both love our dog, but we need a break!” Ryan told 2. “Between work, school and Ellie, we have definitely started to place much less emphasis on ourselves and our relationship.”
Time for the 2 crew to work their makeover magic and treat Carolyn and Ryan to a week of puppy-free bliss. But for this superactive pair, a relaxing weeklong holiday at the beach just wouldn’t do. So 2 teamed up with Marlin Travel to send the couple on an adventure of a lifetime in majestic Whistler, B.C. Brace yourself: This is Couple Makeover as you have never seen it before!

NATURAL BEAUTY
Carolyn and Ryan’s makeover journey began at Toronto’s Civello Salon-Spa. Civello’s exclusive Vision Crafting philosophy sees the individual from a holistic perspective and then personalizes an image that reflects and enhances the individual from every aspect. For both Carolyn and Ryan, that process started with their colour. Advanced colourist Connie Guinta applied a rich, chocolatey-brown overall dye to bring out Carolyn’s piercing blue eyes and creamy skin. Guinta gave Ryan’s natural highlights a boost by placing some soft golden tones in his hair.
Next came their cuts. Master stylist Linda Harvie-Wight let Carolyn’s gorgeous new colour take centre stage. She simply cleaned up her existing shape and introduced some face-framing layers to accentuate her cheekbones. Ryan’s hair is dense and thick, so Harvie-Wight’s goal with his cut was to lighten it up without losing much length. By adding some texture, she was able to get Ryan’s hair to sit closer to his head and control unwanted volume.

WHAT’S YOUR TYPE?
Correct skin typing is the starting point for great skin. During Carolyn and Ryan’s in-store consultation at The Bay, Clinique expert Rick Felecia used the dermatologist-developed Clinique computer to quickly determine both of their skin types and tones—key factors in selecting the skin care, makeup and sun protection best suited to their individual needs.
For Carolyn’s type III skin, Felecia prescribed Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care System, including new Liquid Facial Soap for cleansing, Clarifying Lotion 3 to help control shine in her T-zone and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. He also suggested adding Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer to her daily routine, which offers multi-level exfoliation to continually reveal brighter, more radiant skin.
Ryan’s biggest skin concern was that he had no skin concerns. But by not properly caring for his skin, he risks prematurely losing his youthful glow. Felecia’s aim was simple: to establish a hassle-free regimen that will keep Ryan’s skin looking younger, longer. With Clinique Skin Supplies for Men, that’s as easy as one-two-three: Ryan just needs to refresh, renew and protect twice a day with Liquid Face Wash, Scruffing Lotion 2.5 and M Protect SPF 21, a moisturizer and sunblock in one.
For those long summer days spent out in the sun on the golf course, Ryan requires extra protection to get him through the back nine. Felecia recommended UV-Response SPF 50 Face Cream and Body Spray SPF 30. Both are oil-free, water-resistant and provide full-spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection.

LIGHTEN UP!
When it comes to makeup, Carolyn likes to keep things soft and natural, which is exactly what Clinique expert Jean Liu strove to do when developing Carolyn’s everyday makeup program. “Because of her lifestyle and tastes, I wanted to keep things simple and give her skin a nice, fresh glow for summer,” said Liu.
In lieu of foundation, Liu applied Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15 in Neutral, which evened out Carolyn’s skin tone without feeling heavy.
On to the eyes. Liu started by stippling Colour Surge Eye Shadow in Strawberry Fudge all over each lid, then added both a darker shade along the crease and a lighter shade on the brow bone to create dimension and depth. Liu framed Carolyn’s eyes by filling in her brows with Brow Shaper in Shaping Taupe—one shade lighter than her natural colour. The powder is easier to apply than a brow pencil, and it achieves a softer, more natural effect. A few feathery strokes of Chocolate Luster Cream Shaper for Eyes across the lash line and a couple of coats of High Impact Mascara finished off her eyes.
Liu added a touch of pink to Carolyn’s cheeks with Fresh Bloom Allover Colour in Peony, which looks as good on the skin as it does on the shelf. To give Carolyn the ultimate summer glow, Liu used the new Up-lighting Liquid Illuminator in both Blush (on cheeks) and Natural (on temples). This sheer, lightweight product instantly creates a natural-looking luminosity. A bit of Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in Poppy Love, and Carolyn was ready.
Carolyn’s new makeup will not only keep her skin looking great, but since all Clinique products are allergy-tested and 100 percent fragrancefree, it also won’t irritate her skin.

DOG DAY AFTERNOON
