I’ve always loved meeting people. It makes it easier to talk to people when they recognize me first—it’s a great icebreaker. If someone approaches me when I’m out for dinner with my wife, I’d have no problem pulling up a chair and asking him or her to join us.

I spot people noticing Rick faster than he does, and they always ask
me to take their picture with him—just call me the paparazzi! These young girls say to me, “You’re so lucky,” and I’m like, “Forget it,
he’s the one who’s lucky to be with me!”

ON THEIR FONDEST MEMORY FROM HIS “RICK THE TEMP” DAYS:

Meeting my wife, for sure. She was a security guard for the 1996 MuchMusic Video Awards, and it was my first MMVA as a co-host. We spent a lot of time meeting bands and going to great concerts.
Kim says…
I loved meeting Rick, with his cute long hair. I’d get butterflies every time I saw him. We went to see Bif Naked on our first date. He always brought his buddy to these concerts, but I guess he was smitten and decided to invite me instead.

ON WHAT THEIR PARENTING STYLE IS:

I am more easygoing than my wife. She’s the disciplinarian. I want Noah to enjoy every second of his toddler years, so I do whatever he wants. How can you say no to a little guy like that?
Kim says…
I’m probably the stricter one. Rick is easygoing and lets Noah crawl
all over his head. But we’re on the same page in terms of parenting. We have to discipline Noah, even if it’s something we don’t like to do. Especially now, since he’s in his “terrible twos!”

ON THEIR IDEA OF A ROMANTIC OUTING IN THE WINTER MONTHS:

I love taking walks outside when the snow is falling for the first time. I’m also big into snowboarding and I’d like to introduce my son and my wife to it. I’m hoping this winter we can head up to a chalet for the weekend—and spend lots of time outdoors.

I’m not a big fan of winter. I’m more like the mom or wife who hangs out inside the chalet making hot cocoa. Either that or I’d opt to fly somewhere where there are palm trees.

ON HOW THEY BALANCE THEIR CAREERS WITH THEIR FAMILY LIFE:

Whenever I’m not working, I’m with my wife and son. It’s that simple.

It’s all about balance, but it does take work. Every Thursday night is date night.

I really liked Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. They were the most adorable couple out there. I really hoped things would work out for them.

Based on style and looks alone, I would have to say Posh and David Beckham. But, based on my respect for them, I would say anyone who has a solid marriage and makes it work—like John Travolta and Kelly Preston.
